AI-Driven Network Innovations

Since early 2024, Samsung has been intensifying its AI research and network development efforts. One of the most notable achievements has been the successful interoperability demonstration between Samsung’s Open RAN-compliant vRAN and NVIDIA’s computing platform. Conducted in Samsung Research’s lab, this proof-of-concept showcased the seamless integration of GPU-accelerated computing into software-based mobile networks, paving the way for more efficient and intelligent telecommunications systems.

Showcasing AI-Powered RAN at MWC 2025

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, Samsung highlighted its leadership in AI-driven network solutions through joint demonstrations with members of the AI-RAN Alliance, including NVIDIA. These demonstrations included AI-based physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) estimation and non-uniform modulation, both of which exemplify innovative methods for optimizing network performance using AI.

Transforming Network Efficiency and Performance

Samsung’s Executive Vice President and Head of R&D for Networks Business, June Moon, emphasized the company’s commitment to building future-ready network architectures powered by AI-enabled vRAN. Meanwhile, Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President for Telecom at NVIDIA, highlighted AI-RAN’s potential to drive major advancements in network efficiency, utilization, and performance, as well as to enable new AI-based services.

The Future of AI in Telecommunications

This collaboration marks a significant step toward integrating AI deeper into mobile networks, enhancing both operational efficiencies and user experiences. By combining Samsung’s network expertise with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing capabilities, the partnership aims to redefine the future of telecommunications, making networks smarter and more adaptive to the ever-growing demands of connectivity.
