Sandeshkhali Women Allege Sexual Assault: Bengal Government Orders Probe, Trinamool Congress Team to Investigate

The West Bengal government has ordered a probe into allegations of sexual assault against women in Sandeshkhali, a town in the state’s North 24 Parganas district. The allegations, which have been made by several women, are said to have taken place during a raid by the police and Trinamool Congress workers in the area.

The raid, which took place in January, was reportedly conducted to arrest a group of people who had been accused of committing a crime. However, several women have since come forward and alleged that they were subjected to sexual assault during the raid.

The Bengal government has taken the allegations seriously and has ordered a probe into the matter. A team of senior Trinamool Congress leaders, including the party’s state general secretary, has been appointed to investigate the matter and submit a report to the government.

The Trinamool Congress has denied the allegations and has accused the opposition of spreading false rumors to malign the party’s image. The opposition, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter and has called on the government to take strict action against those responsible for the alleged assaults.

The Sandeshkhali incident has once again brought the issue of political violence in West Bengal into the spotlight. The state has a long history of political violence and has been the scene of several high-profile incidents in recent years. – The Blaze Times
