Delhi Police Nabs Alleged LeT Operative, Revealing Coordinated Efforts to Receive Arms from Across the LoC

New Delhi: In a significant development, the Delhi Police apprehended Riyaz Ahmad Rather, a retired army personnel and alleged member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba module operating in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Rather is believed to have played a pivotal role in facilitating the receipt of arms and ammunition from across the Line of Control (LoC), according to official sources.

The arrest was made on Sunday at the New Delhi Railway Station, where Mr. Rather was taken into custody by a specialized team deployed after receiving information from investigating agencies in Jammu and Kashmir. These agencies reported that Mr. Rather was a key figure in a recent terror module case, wherein five individuals were apprehended, and significant incriminating material, including five AK rifles (short), five AK Magazines, and 16 short AK rounds, was seized.

The arms and ammunition were traced back to LeT terrorist handlers operating from Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK), identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh alias Shakoor and Qazi Mohammad Khushal. The apprehension of Mr. Rather, a resident of Kupwara district, sheds light on his alleged involvement in conspiring with Khursheed Ahmad Rather and Ghulam Sarwar Rather to receive these illicit supplies on behalf of terrorist handlers.

Acting on intelligence inputs, a dedicated team stationed at the New Delhi Railway Station successfully identified and detained Mr. Rather as he attempted to flee through exit gate number 1 in the early hours. Investigations revealed that he, accompanied by his associate Altaf, had traveled from Jabalpur to Hazarat Nizamuddin railway station via the Mahakaushal Express before reaching the New Delhi Railway Station.

Sources suggest that the duo intended to proceed to an undisclosed hideout in the city. Notably, both Mr. Rather and Altaf retired from the Indian Army on January 31, 2023. During the arrest, one mobile phone and a SIM card were recovered from Mr. Rather’s possession.

Mr. Rather has been taken into custody under the appropriate sections of the law, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been duly informed to undertake further necessary action. This arrest marks a significant stride in dismantling the nefarious activities of the LeT module and underscores the ongoing efforts to ensure national security and curb cross-border terrorism. – The Blaze Times
